Half-Day Workshop

Psychiatric rehabilitative services are client-centered, strength-based services designed to promote self-determination, skill development, and connection to resources that assist in the success of living independently. In this training, participants will discover the importance of identifying an individual’s learning style and how different learning styles translate to teaching psychiatric rehabilitative skills. They will also learn the step-by-step processes of assessing both housing and psychiatric rehabilitation skill building needs and developing an individualized plan to support clients’ success in the community. The course will conclude with opportunities to practice appropriate documentation ensuring that the treatment plan accurately reflects the systematic approach to providing psychiatric rehabilitative services on an ACT team.

1-Day Workshop

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an intervention that can address some of the challenges of employment for consumers who are ambivalent about working. MI can help consumers who are uncertain or not interested in working by increasing their internal motivation. Because the job search starts soon after consumers express interest in working, MI can help the consumer come to a decision to work. At the conclusion of this 1-day training, participants will be able to: understand the ‘Spirit’ of MI, learn, and practice the person-centered foundational skills using open-ended questions, affirmations, reflective listening, and summarizing skills (OARS). Participants will also learn how to recognize, respond to, and strengthen ‘Change Talk’, which can then lead to a shift in the consumers’ ambivalence towards working. The entire day and practice will be focused on employment.

1-Day Workshop

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an intervention that can address some of the challenges of employment for consumers who are ambivalent about working. MI can help consumers who are uncertain or not interested in working by increasing their internal motivation. Because the job search starts soon after consumers express interest in working, MI can help the consumer come to a decision to work. At the conclusion of this 1-day training, participants will be able to: understand the ‘Spirit’ of MI, learn, and practice the person-centered foundational skills using open-ended questions, affirmations, reflective listening, and summarizing skills (OARS). Participants will also learn how to recognize, respond to, and strengthen ‘Change Talk’, which can then lead to a shift in the consumers’ ambivalence towards working. The entire day and practice will be focused on employment.

*Previous MI Training is recommended

Half-Day Workshop

Practice…Practice…Practice! This workshop aims to consolidate learning, deepen skills acquisition and increase understanding of Motivational Interviewing (MI) in practice. It is designed for people who have attended the 2-day MI workshop previously. You should expect more demonstration and practice exercises, and less didactic material.

*Prerequisite: Attendance in the 2-Day MI Workshop within the past year.
